A New Partnership: Vermont Teddy Bear Company x Kelley School of Business
On December 2, 2025, the Kelley Outfitters team interviewed Colin King, the owner of the Vermont Teddy Bear Company. The business’s vision and recent rebranding, while maintaining its classic “American Made” appeal, create an engaging entrepreneurial story.
After a career in accounting, King began searching for a company to acquire, hoping to bring fresh ideas and energy. The Vermont Teddy Bear Company presented the perfect opportunity for these ambitions to take flight.
“When we bought the company, we had to untangle and unpack it from another company. From 2024 through today, the focus has been on stabilizing the business by getting teams in place, setting financials, and stabilizing operations,” King explained.
The handcrafted teddy bears are known for their quality, longevity, and uniqueness, features not easily found elsewhere in the market. The company’s values are rooted in U.S.-based production and the nostalgic sentiment of collectible items.
Additionally, King owns the Vermont Flannel Company, which has recently collaborated with the Teddy Bear Company to create special editions of bears dressed in flannels of various colors and patterns. The flannels offer customers a fun way to continue supporting the brand and get excited about new product drops.
Looking ahead, the Vermont Teddy Bear Company has collaborated with the Kelley School of Business to create collectible bears for students and families to purchase as a token and symbol of their school and education; Godfrey and Hodge. Use the link below to check out the bears.
